A shrine occurs as holy cave, in which a Devi (Goddess) had to grand tour wipe out Demon king Bhairon Nath after being pursued by her for an extended period. A demon's intention was to prevent the Goddess from either attaining a high level of spirituality, which she was trying to achieve across tapasya, and marry her. Vaishno Devi experienced to flee to the mountains to prove my point her quest. Another legends associated sustaining this pursuit come that of the Goddess hiding within the cave (Adhkawari or even Garbh Joon) for nine months, & of granting divine forgiveness to the demon when he plead mercy when death. the Goddess granted a blessing to the demon, whereby each buff sequentially to assure completion of the pilgrim's journey, got to visit Bhairon Nath's temple touching a shrine. Meanwhile Vaishno Devi assumed the shape of a rock by owning triplet pindis (heads) & immersed herself into meditation forever.
